Named after William Thomas Blanford (1832–1905), member of the Geological Survey of India. No subspecies are currently recognized. ==Geographic range== Found in India, Pakistan (Baluchistan and North-West Frontier Province), Afghanistan, possibly Iran, south to Mecca through the Arabian Peninsula from Aden through Yemen. The type locality given is "Sind" (India ).〔
